Child Protection

STATEMENT

The Evangelical Fellowship of Congregational Churches recognises the importance of its ministry to children and young people and its responsibility to protect and safeguard the welfare of children and young people entrusted to its care. As part of its mission, EFCC is committed to:

  • listening to, relating effectively to and valuing children and young people, whilst ensuring their protection within its activities

  • safe recruitment of all children's and youth workers within the organisation

  • adopting a procedure for dealing with concerns about possible abuse

  • encouraging and supporting parents/carers

POLICY

The EFCC recognises the need to provide a safe and caring environment for children and young people and also acknowledges that many children and young people today are victims of neglect, physical and sexual abuse. Accordingly it has adopted this policy and sets out guidelines relating to the following areas:

  • supervision of activities
  • discipline
  • appointing children’s/youth workers
  • responding to allegations of abuse or neglect
It is the policy of EFCC to exclude from working with children persons who have previously abused a child or where it is known that the individual has a record of violent or inappropriate behaviour towards children.
